Methodology

How we calculate card values.

The short version: if the issuer doesn't state a dollar amount, we don't make one up.

Our principle

We only publish dollar values we can verify. If the issuer doesn't state a specific dollar amount, we don't make one up. “We don't know” is honest.

Every other premium-card site values lounge access at "$600/yr" or hotel status at "$1,200/yr." Those numbers are guesses. They vary five times depending on how you actually use the card. We'd rather tell you the perk exists and let you decide its value for you.

What we verify

  • ·Statement credits — exact dollar amount, reset frequency (monthly / quarterly / semi-annual / annual), and whether the credit requires enrollment.
  • ·Annual fees — primary card fee and authorized-user fee.
  • ·Card opening and renewal policies — when the fee posts and what triggers a renewal.

What we don't assign dollar values to

These benefits are real and appear on every card detail page in a dedicated section — just without a fabricated price tag:

  • ·Lounge access (Centurion, Priority Pass, Sapphire, etc.)
  • ·Hotel and airline status (Hilton Gold, Marriott Platinum, etc.)
  • ·Insurance coverage (trip delay, baggage, rental car CDW)
  • ·Travel protection (cancellation, evacuation)
  • ·"Points worth" and transfer-partner valuations
  • ·Concierge service
  • ·Free-night certificates and points awards
  • ·Any "lifestyle benefit"

Sources

We verify benefit data against:

  • ·American Express card terms (americanexpress.com)
  • ·Chase Sapphire benefit guides (chase.com)
  • ·Capital One benefit guide
  • ·Citi terms and conditions
  • ·Hilton, Marriott, Hyatt co-branded card guides
  • ·Direct issuer customer service confirmation when terms are ambiguous

Each card benefit links to its specific source URL with the date it was last verified. If the link is missing, the benefit is queued for verification — it's still in our database for reference but isn't yet counted toward "verified annual credits."

Update cadence

We re-verify benefits quarterly and immediately when issuers announce changes. When a benefit hasn't been re-verified in 90 days our admin dashboard flags it for review.

Found a discrepancy?

If your statement shows different values than our database, your statement is the truth. Use Statement Override to correct our data — your correction helps every other user and queues the benefit for re-verification against issuer terms.
