Frequently asked questions
Plain-language answers, with live numbers from this card.
Value & break-even
Is the Amex Business Platinum Card worth the annual fee?
Whether Amex Business Platinum Card is worth its $895 annual fee depends on which credits you actually use. Nothing on this card arrives on its own, so your WTF Check counts only the credits you say you use. The Maximum Credit Value is $2,378/year — your value may be much lower, and that is what the WTF Check calculates. A further $4,850/year has to be earned — qualifying spend or qualifying activity — so we don't count it. Run the WTF Check above for your verdict.
How much value do I need to use to break even on the Amex Business Platinum Card?
You need to capture at least $895 in credits each year to break even. Using every credit you don't have to earn returns $2,378 — that's 2.7× the fee. A further $4,850/year has to be earned — qualifying spend or qualifying activity — so we don't count it.
Why is WorthTheFee's number lower than the bank's total for the Amex Business Platinum Card?
Banks add up every possible credit at its theoretical maximum. We show the Maximum Credit Value ($2,378/year here) — the credits you can capture by using them — and keep perks you value, which need spending or qualifying activity first, on their own line. Your WTF Check counts only what you say you use. If you don't use it, we don't count it.
Does the welcome bonus count toward this value?
No. Welcome bonuses are one-time and vary by application channel, so we don't fold them into ongoing annual value. Our number reflects what you get every year you hold the card — not a first-year sweetener.
Credits & enrollment
Which Amex Business Platinum Card credits are Automatic?
None of them — nothing on the Amex Business Platinum Card posts automatically. Every credit takes an action to capture, which is why we count none of it for you by default. Use every credit you don't have to earn and the Amex Business Platinum Card gives back $2,378 a year. Review each credit below and include only what you realistically expect to use or earn.
Which Amex Business Platinum Card credits require enrollment?
These credits require you to opt in through your account before they'll post: Hilton Gold status, $200 Hilton Statement Credit, Wireless Credit, Business Platinum Adobe Benefit, Car Rental Elite Status, $209 CLEAR+ Credit, Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite Status, Priority Pass, Business Platinum Dell Technologies Benefit — $150 credit, Business Platinum Dell Technologies Benefit — $1,000 after $5,000 Dell spend, $209 CLEAR+ Credit, ChatGPT Business Credit, Business Platinum Indeed Benefit, $200 Airline Fee Credit. If you don't enroll, you get nothing — even after you spend.
What perks are not counted in the Net Value?
WorthTheFee excludes any benefit without a fixed, verifiable dollar value — things like elite status, lounge access, or trip insurance. They're real, but we won't put a fake price on them.
Methodology & account
How does WorthTheFee calculate value?
We sort every credit into three buckets: Automatic (included in the WTF Check with no selection required), Yours if you use it (available only if you actually use it), and Perks you value (requires spending or qualifying activity). Your verdict adds Automatic value to the value you select—never the bank's marketing total.
How often are these credits and values updated?
Every credit here is read from the issuer's own published terms by a person, who records the source link and the date. The date on this page is that date — it is when we last checked, not a promise about when we will check next. When a term changes we log it to our terms-history so you can see exactly what shifted and when, and if a credit's reset window changes, your reminders update too.
Will my annual fee change?
Issuers raise fees occasionally — usually with 30–60 days notice. If we detect a fee change on a card in My Wallet, it shows in your Alerts, under Deadlines. You can always downgrade or cancel before the renewal posts.
Do affiliate links change the math?
No. No card issuer pays us. Some merchant links may earn us a commission. Your verdict never does. The numbers don't move. The answer doesn't change. If the math says Cancel, we say Cancel.
Can I save my verdict?
Yes—your current selections are kept in this page's URL automatically. Create a free account to save your verdict to My Wallet and get reminders before each credit's reset window closes.
Official sources
Every fee, credit and restriction on this page is taken from American Express’s own published pages — never from a blog, forum or affiliate roundup. WorthTheFee is not the issuer and is never paid to change a verdict.
8 of 10 credits verified against issuer terms — this card has not yet been fully reviewed against issuer sources. Issuers change terms without notice. Confirm on the issuer page before applying.
Which other cards give you these?
These 12 credits each have their own page, listing every card that carries them with the issuer’s stated maximum on each.
